Join the Press Conference “Digitization of the food sector: challenges of the future”, that will take place in Buitrago de Lozoya (Madrid), virtually on October 22 from 14:00-17:00 (CEST).
The event will present the objectives of Cattlechain, a key project for the digital transformation of the livestock sector. The initiative, funded by the European Commission, is aimed at improving the production process and ensure full traceability and animal welfare in the sale and consumption of dairy and meat products. All thanks to the help of IoT (Internet of things), Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain. Cattlechain strives to eliminate the digital gap between consumers and farmers by sharing the whole production process, from the farm to the plate, with the consumer.
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Director-General for Rural Development, Innovation, and Training in the Food Industry, Isabel Bombal, and will be held within the framework of the Strategy for Digitization of the Food and Agriculture Sector and Rural Forestry launched by the MAPA and the strategy under the European Green Pact “From the Farm to the Table”, promoted by the European Commission. The event is a joint commitment to fair, equitable, healthy, and environmentally friendly food systems.
The event will also feature the presence of Miguel Angel Velasco, CEO of the livestock Cumbres del Guadarrama, who will share his experiences and efforts to develop a quality food chain and circular economy model that works for consumers, producers, climate, and the environment. Thanks to the possibilities offered by new technologies, Miguel Angel has absolute control not only of the location of livestock but also of health and animal welfare from birth to the consumer’s table, ensuring effective traceability throughout the process.
